Breaking news from Barb Shoup, Executive Director of the Indiana Writers Center:
Every writer
needs a place to start and, over the years, the Indiana Writers Center has
provided that place to many writers, including myself, by offering classes
taught by some of Indiana’s best writers, the opportunity for constructive
criticism, and the camaraderie and support of fellow writers on the path. One
of the pleasures of my job as director of the Center is discovering and
nurturing talented writers of all ages and backgrounds, and I know that many of
you feel the same way.
This fall
the Indiana Writers Center will launch “Flying Island,” an online literary
magazine to publish emerging Indiana writers. The magazine will have rolling
submissions through September 2014 and, at
the end of that time, the IWC will publish an anthology that includes the best
of the year’s submissions. The publication will be celebrated with a public
reading the evening before our annual Gathering of Writers.
In addition,
each month the “Flying Island” will showcase the work of an accomplished
Indiana writers…like you.
I’m
hoping that you’ll let all your friends and fellow writers know about “Flying Island”
and encourage the best of them to submit their work. Also that you might be
willing to make a modest donation to help us fully fund this exciting
initiative.
